An open letter from Dr. Thomas Socash

Thank you for having chosen me your physician—it has been an honor

As most are now well aware, I will be leaving Central Adirondack Family Practice and discontinuing my medical practice at the Town of Webb Professional Offices effective at close of business on Friday, July 27, 2012.

I will be available to serve your medical needs until that date. Subsequently, I will resume medical practice at the Albany VA Medical Center’s Community- Based Outpatient Clinic in Saranac Lake.

My praise goes to the Town of Webb Board for their unanimous decision to pursue contract negotiations with St. Elizabeth Medical Center. As a graduate of its Family Medicine Residency Program, I know the St. Elizabeth mission will serve this community well, and the professionalism of its administrators involved in this process will ensure the continuity of primary care and services to my patients.

Although the expected transfer of operations to SEMC is not likely to occur until later this fall, SEMC has demonstrated commitment to provide for ongoing availability of medical care at the TOW Professional Offices until such time.

Patient medical records will be maintained at the aforementioned place of business in accordance with New York State and Federal law and regulations.

If any patient has a medical need after July 27th, they only need to call “the Health Center” at 369-6619 and staff will see that appropriate care is received as promptly as possible.

Although by nature I do not embrace change, change is good for everyone. Instead of looking back at the way things once were, the Town Board has reacted responsibly in choosing SEMC for securing ongoing medical care for its year-round and seasonal residents, including vacationers to the area in the future.

Thank you for having chosen me as your physician. It has been my pleasure and honor to serve you over the past 22 years. It has been truly a privilege for Pam and myself to have been able to raise our family in this special Adirondack town.

I wish you continued good health and wellness.

Kindest regards,

Thomas J. Socash, M.D., Old Forge
