Old Forge Camera Club welcomes Nancie Battaglia

Professional photographer Nancie Battaglia, of Lake Placid, presented an informational talk and slide show to the members of the Old Forge Camera Club at its May meeting.

“Her slide shows were both eye-opening and educational, giving those present, a view of what it means to be a working professional photographer. Her ability to capture the fast action of winter sports events is truly remarkable, and her vision of life in the Adirondacks tells a story to the world of what it is like to live here. She is truly an ‘Adirondack Treasure,’” said Camera Club member Culleen Dolittle.Battaglia, a Syracuse University graduate who went on to become the university’s sports photographer, was appointed in 1980 as the USA Olympic photographer for the Winter Olympics in Lake Placid.

She has subsequently photographed 11 Olympics world-wide.

Her photos have been regularly published in many magazines and newspapers including: Adirondack Life, National Geographic, Sports Illustrated, and the New York Times.

Recently, her photos of the “Paddle for the Cure” in Inlet were published in magazines in the U.S., Germany, as well as in other countries.
