The Old Forge varsity baseball team won their final home game of the season in exciting fashion, when Parker Clemans hit a walk-off home run in the bottom of the seventh inning to break a 3-all tie against Rome Catholic, on Monday, May 14.

On the mound for Old Forge was Garrett Pavlus, who ended up getting the victory over Rome Catholic’s Josh Blair.

Old Forge drew first blood in the second inning, posting two runs.

Pavlus held Rome Catholic scoreless through three, but the Redwings came to life in the fourth, tying the game at two apiece.

Old Forge added a run in the bottom of the next inning to go up 3–2, but the Redwings brought the game even again with their own run in the sixth.

Old Forge was able to hold the Redwings in the top of the last inning, going into the home half of the frame with the score still knotted at three.

Rome Catholic was able to retire two and with no one on, Clemans stepped in the box, looking to keep the inning alive for Old Forge.

That’s when he put a mighty swing on a ball out over the plate, which he jacked for the game-ending home run.

Winning pitcher Garrett Pavlus struck out eight in the game, while walking just three and scattering four hits.

Old Forge tallied five hits, while playing error free ball throughout.

This was the final home game for Old Forge’s seniors: Bert Yuhasz, Daniel Heroux, Garrett Pavlus, Parker Clemans and PJ Perkins.
