The annual Fire & Spice Culinary Competition held Sunday, May 6, at the Grill Room at Thendara Golf Club drew many fans of hot and spicy food who cooled their palates with margaritas between tastings, while enjoying live music by Joe Bolton and John Christy.
The judges who sampled the 15 entries were Jan O’Connor, Stephanie Clark and Lee Haynes.
The first place winner was Stephanie Northrop for her Chipolte Cheesecake with Raspberry Drizzle.
Craig Woods took a second place win for his Tamale entry.
There was a tie for third place between Sue and Tim Hansen for Spicy Miso Soup with Firey Tofu, and Drew Friery for his Firey Chicken.
Fifth place winner was Sonja Poe for her Chocolate Ginger Pear Torte.
The People’s Choice Award was won by Chad Gardner for his entry, Cheesy Chipolte Tomato Bisque.
