The Town of Webb School Alpine Ski Team began their competitions at the High School Alpine State Champion-ships on Monday, February 27th at Whiteface Mountain in the Slalom event.

There were seven sections represented from across New York State for a total of 60 girls and 61 boys.

The girl’s kicked it off with McKenzie Liddle placing 11th overall and Jessica Hannah placing 32nd.

Lauren Holt had to relinquish her 14th place when she had a DNF on her second run.

For the boys, West Tickner placed 9th overall, Daniel Heroux had a DSQ on his first run and Corey Down had a DNF on his second run leaving them both without combined placements. On Tuesday, February 28 the weather was warm and sunny during the Giant Slalom event.

McKenzie Liddle placed 21st, Jessica Hannah 22nd, and Lauren Holt had a DNF on her first run.

Daniel Heroux

West Tickner placed 10th overall in Giant Slalom for the boys with Daniel Heroux right behind him in 11th place. Corey Down finished 36th.

Due to his two-day combined results, West Tickner has qualified for the New York State team at the Eastern High School Championships to be held at Attitash Mountain in New Hampshire from March 9 to 11. The team is comprised of 12 girls and 12 boys representing NY state.

Our Section III is made up of seven girls and seven boys who qualified for the States Team based on their season’s best results.

Of that Section, the Town of Webb was the Sectional Champion so they qualified to compete as a “team” at States.

With this in mind, when the results were tallied as a Section, the girls placed third and the boys placed fourth.

As a high school team separate from our Section, the Town of Webb girls placed fifth and the Boys team placed second.

And one of the best achievements for the Town of Webb High School team over the course of the two days, was the fact that McKenzie Liddle and Daniel Heroux were given the Sportsmanship Awards for Section III.
