The Junior Polar Bear Alpine Team participated in an Adirondack Council Giant Slalom Race at Snow Ridge on Saturday, January 30th.

The results of the race are as follows:

Polar Bear Alpine Skiers compete in Woods Valley Ad’k Council race

Polar Bear Ski Club alpine skiers participated in Adirondack Council race competion at Woods Valley in Westernville on January 24th.

The youths are enthusiastic at having started their season, according to Andrea Hollister.

“We are excited to have new racers this year. Everyone is having fun and doing a great job,” she said.

Polar Bears: U16 Alpine girls race

The U16 Alpine Polar Bear Girls Team competed in a giant slalom race at Windham Mountain on Saturday, January 24 and a slalom race at Belleayre Mountain on Sunday, January 25. Their placements in Saturday’s race were: 17th -Alexis Hollister; 32nd -Alex DiOrio; 33rd – Alex Sutherland.

At Sunday’s race, Alexis Hollister placed 16th, Alex Sutherland placed 23rd, and  Alex DiOrio, 26th.

Alpine Polar Bears place well in the Hovey race at Whiteface Mountain

Alpine members of the Polar Bear Ski Club traveled to Lake Placid on Saturday, January 11 to take part in the 51st Hovey Memorial Ski Race held at Whiteface Mountain.

Despite uncooperative weather which included heavy rain, the Polar Bears skied to their best abilities and had a successful race. Race results by class were:

NYS Alpine Championships: McKenzie Liddle, Daniel Heroux receive Sportsmanship Awards

The Town of Webb School Alpine Ski Team began their competitions at the High School Alpine State Champion-ships on Monday, February 27th at Whiteface Mountain in the Slalom event.

There were seven sections represented from across New York State for a total of 60 girls and 61 boys.

The girl’s kicked it off with McKenzie Liddle placing 11th overall and Jessica Hannah placing 32nd.

Lauren Holt had to relinquish her 14th place when she had a DNF on her second run.

For the boys, West Tickner placed 9th overall, Daniel Heroux had a DSQ on his first run and Corey Down had a DNF on his second run leaving them both without combined placements. Continue reading

Town of Webb Ski Competition: Varsity Alpine teams take firsts in three competitions

The Town of Webb Varsity Alpine Ski Team competed in a slalom event at McCauley Mountain on Saturday, January 21. The course was tough, as it was icy on the headwall and at the flush near the end of the race.

Despite the conditions however, the TOW girls’ and boys’ teams each took first place honors. Jessica Hannah took first place in the first run with a time of 50.72 seconds, and Mara Gaffney took second with a time of 56.15 seconds.

Lexie Haehl took 6th place, Camry Liddle and Danielle Gibbs took 9th and 10th, respectively, and Maggie Queen came in 15th place.

MacKenzie Kelly, Ella Mitchell, and Brianna Brownsell placed 21st, 22nd, and 23rd respectively.

In the girls’ second run, McKenzie Liddle placed first with a time of 46.52 seconds. Lexie Haehl placed 5th in the second run with Mara Gaffney taking 6th, and Camry Liddle taking 9th place. Continue reading
