Raquette Lake to host annual Winter Carnival this weekend

Raquette Lake Winter Carnival will take place on Saturday and Sunday, February 18 and 19 at various venues throughout the village.

The weekend kicks off on Saturday at 10 a.m. with activities for the kids, competitions and games including sledding races, a balloon chase, and other frivolous and wacky winter themed recreation near the library.

At noon the Ladies Frying Pan Toss and Golf Drive competitions will begin, and all are invited to bring their ice skates and take advantage of the good ice conditions on Raquette Lake.

At 2 p.m., Magician Bob Shelley will perform a free magic show at the Raquette Lake Library. The library will be open from 9:30 a.m. and will be the best place to warm up and enjoy hot chocolate and delicious snacks throughout the day.

A 6:30 p.m. bonfire and fireworks display will round out the Saturday activities.

On Sunday at noon, the traditional Cross-cut and Chainsaw Competition. will begin with contenders competing for the fastest time in each event.
