Winners named in library’s Sweetheart Dessert Contest

The annual Sweet-heart Dessert Contest was held at the Old Forge Library on Tuesday evening, and this year it fell appropriately on Valentine’s Day, February 14.

Approximately 70 dessert lovers celebrated Valentine’s Day by enjoying the variety of luscious desserts that were entered in the contest.

Judging the entries this year were Dave Aliasso, Beverly Burnap, and Lesa Parent. The Youth Division winner was Rachel Smith of Old Forge with her grandmother’s specialty, “Abuela Corn Cake.” She won, “The Mom and Me Cookbook.”

The Teen Division winner was David Beck of Woodgate with a “Sweet Heart” dessert. He was awarded “The Cookbook for Kids.” The Adult winner was Claire Hayes with her specialty, “Oreo Cherry Balls.”

She won “The Gourmet Cookie Book.” The winner in the Masters Division was Trish Sehring of Eagle Bay with “Sticky Chocolate Cake with Mango Carmel Sauce.”

She was awarded a Certificate and a year’s subscription to Bon Appetit Magazine.

Prizes were furnished by the Friends of the Old Forge Library.
