Old Forge Library: Mel Macdonald to host open mic night for poets, writers

Local poet Melissa Macdonald invites area poets and writers to share their work at an Open Mic Night on Wednesday, February 15 at 7 p.m. at the Old Forge Library.

Macdonald, who will emcee and be a featured reader at the event, holds a BA in English with a minor in Creative Writing from Hartwick College in Oneonta. She was co-author of “Objects in the Mirror” a column with a focus on books and music that appeared in The Weekly Adirondack.A 2007 finalist in SUNY Potsdam’s Blueline Magazines’s annual chapbook competition, she has led many of the Children’s Poetry Workshops at the Old Forge Library. She has also been co-facilitator for the Together Program: Book Talk for Kids and Parents, a program developed and funded by the New York Council for the Humanities.

Members of the public are welcome to share and read from their own work or to come and enjoy the readings of others.

An additional Open Mic Night is planned for May. The event is co-sponsored by Adirondack Center for Writing.
