Webb School Board of Education plans public interviews of candidates; final selctee to replace Superintendent Gooley

Current principal Rex Germer among three being considered for position

Over the past several weeks the Town of Webb Board of Education has been conducting a search to replace Superintendent Gooley who will be retiring on January 31, 2012.

The board started with fifteen applicants, said Board President Julie Zaykoski, and after conducting a series of preliminary interviews with the applicants, they have narrowed it down to three candidates.

The candidates will be interviewed on Wednesday, January 4 by select students, instructional staff, non-instructional staff, and any community members interested in taking part.

Student interviews will take place during the school day and will be led by Student Council President Parker Clemens. However, students are also welcome to attend the community interviews that evening.

Later on Wednesday, community members, non-instructional faculty, and instructional faculty are welcome to meet at the school library at 5:50 p.m.

Each candidate will be accompanied by a board member who will facilitate the sessions.

Following introductions, community members will ask the candidates questions and have the opportunity to fill out a comment sheet that will aid the board in making their final decision.

The candidates for the Superintendent position are Marc Czadzeck, Rex Germer, and Francine Shea.

Francine Shea, of Middleport, NY holds a Bachelor and a Masters of Science in Education Degree as well as a Certificate of Advanced Studies from SUNY Buffalo.

She has also received a certificate of completion of the Superintendents Development Program from SUNY Oswego and graduated the School of Business Administration at SUNY Brockport.

Shea has served as the Superintendent of schools in the Beaver River Central School District, and the Director of Mathematics, Science, Techno-logy and Career and Technical Education in the East Greenbush Central School District.

Rex Germer of Old Forge has held the position of Principal for grades K through 12 at the Town of Webb UFSD since 2008.

Before becoming principal, Germer was the Assistant High School Principal at Carthage High School in Carthage, NY.

He holds a Bachelors of the Arts in Studio Arts with a Minor in Biology from SUNY Potsdam, as well as a Masters of Education Educational Administration Degree from St. Lawrence University.

In 2010 he received a Certificate of Advanced Studies in Educational Leadership.

Marc Czadzeck, of Saranac Lake, is the current Building Principal for Grades Pre-Kindergarten through twelve at the St. Regis Falls Central School.

He has also held a position as the Director of Education for the Mountain Lake Children’s Residence in Lake Placid.

Czadzeck received Dual Certification from Geneseo State University in Elementary and Special Education with a Minor in History.

He also holds a Masters in Curriculum and Instruction from Plattsburgh State University and Certificate of Advanced Studies as well as a Self Directed Learning Certification from St. Lawrence University.

“I feel confident that we had a good search and we have three excellent candidates. I am looking forward to everybody’s input,” Zaykoski said.
