Webb awarded $5,000 grant from DEC

The Town of Webb will be receiving a 2010 Clean Air Grant worth $5,000, according to a letter received by the town on Wednesday, October 12, from the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation.

Town of Webb Supervisor Robert Moore said that Jennifer Hartsig submitted the grant application on behalf of the Town of Webb in conjunction with Highway Superintendent, Casey Crofut.

According to Moore, the Clean Air Grant award was an “after the fact grant,” and that the money received from the DEC would act as a reimbursement toward the recent purchase of a new Leaf Vac for the Town.

“We had budgeted the purchase of a new Leaf Vac into this year’s budget, but then the opportunity to receive this grant was pointed out to us by Jennifer Hartsig from her conversations with Highway Superintendent Crofut. The funds were originally expended from the highway machinery equipment fund, so the money will go back into that fund,” he said.

Moore said that on behalf of the Town of Webb he would like to acknowledge and thank New York State Forest Ranger Chad Richardson, Herkimer County Legislator Patrick Russell, and Tony Tormey, Commissioner of the Town of Webb Fire District 1, for their letters of support.
