Letter to the Editor from Candidate Hansen: I will keep you informed on all that is going on

To the Editor:

If elected as your Herkimer County Legislator I will represent all of you in District 15 with a high level of integrity. My platform is that You the People are important and I will keep you informed on all that is going on in Herkimer County affairs with newsletters and question and answer meetings. I will make myself available to all of you in District 15. I want to work for you, but more important I want to work with you. We can accomplish so much more by working together. Remember, You the People are the government.

The Town of Webb tax levy is almost 10 million a year and as your legislator I will make sure that you receive full representation for the tax levy we pay to Herkimer.

In 2007 I addressed the County Legislature and asked if they would allow the taxpayers in Herkimer County to pay their taxes quarterly because this would make it easier for those on fixed incomes. Months later, they said the taxpayer could pay their taxes when due with credit cards. They did not mention the interest charges that would be added to the taxpayers credit card statement.

It is time to give the taxpayers a break and take some of the load off their shoulders. Remember, if we keep our spending down, our taxes will stay down. And we need to create jobs. This can be done and I know how to do this.

We have to stop fighting within the parties and work together for the people. To do this we need open government, with open door meetings, instead of closed door meetings, accountability and leadership to bring the government closer to the people so they can take part in the process. Now, it seems, the career politicians just want your vote. Then they forget you and just go on and spend your tax money. If elected, I will not forget You the People.
