Library seeks Lloyd Schafer works for planned exhibit

The Old Forge Library is seeking to borrow watercolor paintings and other works by late area artist Lloyd Schafer for a special winter exhibit planned in his memory at the Judith Cohen Memorial Wing of the library.

Following his retirement as a design engineer at Remington Arms in Ilion, Schafer opened an art studio at Singing Waters where he painted and sold hundreds of watercolor paintings and other works of art.

Schafer, who passed away in 2008, was also noted for contributing his talent to benefit many community projects and organizations.

A supporter of the Old Forge Library, he was known to donate his paintings for raffles to benefit the library. He was also an active member of the Arts Guild of Old Forge.

Anyone interested in loaning a Lloyd Schafer painting for the exhibit can contact Old Forge Library Director Isabella Worthen at (315) 369-6008.

More information about the upcoming exhibit will be announced soon.
