Local Volunteer Fire & Emergency Open Houses set this weekend

If you have ever thought about becoming a volunteer firefighter, emergency medical responder, a driver, or social member of the Otter Lake, Old Forge, or Woodgate Fire Departments, stop by the respective fire houses on Saturday, April 23 or Sunday, April 24 as the departments take part in Recruit NY.

Recruit NY is a state-wide initiative to increase emergency responder numbers.

Woodgate Fire Department’s event will be held both days 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.; Otter Lake Fire Department’s will be held Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Old Forge Fire Depart-ment’s is set for Sunday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

During the recruitment days, emergency personnel will be available to answer questions on what it takes to be a volunteer, conduct tours of the station and firefighter apparatus, lead demonstrations, and fit visitors with firefighter/ emergency gear.

Refreshments will be served.
