Over thirty registered artists participated in the Third Annual Plein Air Paint Out in Old Forge sponsored by View, over Labor Day weekend.
The weekend-long event began on Friday morning September 2 with artists setting up easels throughout town to capture a plethora of scenes unique to the Adirondack region.
On Saturday the Paint-Out continued with artists drawing in a crowd of over 200 people at View for the Paint your Palette Cocktail Party.
The event included wine, beer, and soda tastings, an hors d’oeuvres sampling, live entertainment, and a silent auction, which helped to raise over $1,800 for View.
“It was a very successful first-time event that helped bring more people to View while enabling art enthusiasts to have a chance to experience the Paint-Out weekend in a brand new way,” said Meagan Langworthy, co-organizer of the cocktail party.
During this year’s Plein Air Paint-Out, over 57 paintings were purchased at the live auction which took place under a tent in the center of town on Sunday, September 4.
According to event co-organizer, Terry Rozycki, the auction—which was standing room only—raised over $21,000 for View.
“I was surprised at the number of people who came out for every component of the Paint-Out. At the live auction, we had 67 paddles entered with about two to three people per paddle. There were so many people, they were bidding through the windows!” Rozycki said.
