HUNT Real Estate ERA has expanded to the Adirondacks, acquiring Rivet Realty, a family-run real estate firm  in Old Forge that has served the region for over 50 years.

The real estate company will continue at its current location at 2979 State Route 28, with the majority of its 10 real estate agents joining the HUNT team. The new offices brings the total number of HUNT branches to 38 across Upstate, Central and Western New York.

Rivet Realty, most currently operated by broker Bill Rivet, evolved from Rivet & Russell Accountants, an agency operated by Bill’s late father, W. Floyd Rivet, and the late Donald “Bud” Russell in the late 1950’s.

The agency changed its name to Rivet & Russell Insurance in the early 1960’s, providing insurance and accounting services at an office located above the former pharmacy building at the busy corner in Old Forge. The partners also sold real estate under the name of Syradack Realty Corporation for the late W. Philip Christy.

In 1965, the W. Floyd Rivet Agency opened in the Nelson Building on Main Street, now the site of Sisters Bistro. On December 1, 1986, Bill Rivet partnered with Chuck Eldridge to form Rivet – Eldridge Agency, an insurance and real estate company that was eventually housed at Greensleeves Common.

Since 2001, Bill was solely at the helm of Rivet Realty.

“Continuing our growth in New York State, we couldn’t be happier to enter into the 6 million acre Adirondack Park by acquiring Rivet Realty,” said Dave Evans, General Manager of HUNT Real Estate’s Central New York & Capital regions.

“We are eager to build upon what Bill Rivet and his fine agents have already made the preeminent Adirondack Park real estate company for over 40 years.”

This is the second major territory expansion in as many weeks for HUNT Real Estate ERA. Last week, they acquired The Lang Agency’s two offices in the Southern Tier cities of Hornell, NY and Alfred, NY.

HUNT Real Estate Corpora-tion is the parent company of HUNT Real Estate ERA and operates nearly 40 branches throughout western, central, and upstate New York, and Phoenix, AZ.

Founded in 1911, HUNT Real Estate ERA is the largest family-owned and operated real estate company in the area and is ranked the 45th largest real estate firm in the nation for closed transactions in 2014 by REALTrends.
