Private services held for Donald A. Welch, 70

Don WelchDonald A. “Don” Welch, 70, of Peru, NY, passed away Sunday, November 8, 2015 at his home with his family by his side.

He was born in Oneonta, NY on March 8, 1945, the son of the late Margaret (White) Bishop.

After his graduation, he joined the United States Army and served in Panama.

He was known as a handy-man, capable of fixing anything around the house. 

Don worked several years as a salesman for American Stone in Syracuse, NY.

Don had a love for fishing, the outdoors and his German Shephards.

When he was not outside, he could be found following his favorite team before they moved, the Brooklyn Dodgers.

Don was predeceased by his mother, Margaret Bishop, his brother Peter Bishop, and a grandson, Nathaniel Chilbert.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Linda, his son, Colby Welch, his daughter, Trista Chilbert and her husband Joseph and his four grandchildren; Nicholas, Isabella, Nolan, Sophia.

In accordance with Don’s wishes, there will be no calling hours. Services will be private for the family.
