LETTER: Elected officials should acknowledge public input

Letter to the Editor:

In mid-July, I sent a letter to the Town Supervisor and the Town of Webb Board members.

I was questioning why no one had been notified concerning the “No Signage” rule about signs on town and state property.

The Jolly Moosers had signs removed a few days before their sale the second weekend in July. Much of the money earned from this craft sale goes back to the Town in numerous ways, such as the fire departments, ambulance funds, and food banks.

Another concern was the Tourist building on Route 28 in Eagle Bay. What tourists do you hope to attract?

It is now the middle of September, and the drinking fountain and sinks have no water.

There are no chairs, no bulletin boards, no shelves.

It’s certainly not welcoming for the tourists you wish to visit the Town of Webb.

When I did not receive a response from anyone on the Town Board, I called the Town Supervisor’s office and was told by his secretary that he had been very busy.

Still no response, so I called a second time. I did at that time, tell the Supervisor’s secretary that I would write a letter if I had no response whatsoever.

So, now two months later, I’ve decided it’s time to write a letter.

It seems to me that as a taxpayer for the Town of Webb, I do deserve a letter or phone call in response to my questions.

Water still seems to be a big problem for the  Tourist Center. What’s being done about it?

Have any rules been changed regarding signs for chicken barbecues, craft sales, etc?

Needless to say, I am most disappointed in no answers to my questions!

Sincerely,

Judith Bean, Eagle Bay
