VIEW readies 7th Annual Plein Air Paint Out & Art Auction

Artists from across New York and the northeast will come to the area over Labor Day weekend for VIEW’s 7th Annual Plein Air Paint Out and Art Auction.

Beginning on Thursday, September 3, the artists will paint the scenes, landmarks and characters found in Old Forge and its surrounding communities.

Among the participating artists will be the Mountain Painters, a local, active plein air group who meet at VIEW frequently from spring through fall.

VIEW is the central meeting place for all of the artists, providing a welcome bag, breakfast, and a bagged lunch for each day of painting.

On Friday, September 4 participating artists get together for the annual Plein Air Bar-B Que, prepared by Brian Bamberger.

A number of finished pieces will be on display at VIEW, with each participating artist  asked to donate one framed piece for the live art auction.

The Plein Air Art Auction on Saturday, September 5 is an exciting event that includes competitive bidding, special prizes, and the option to bid on uniquely decorated Adirondack chairs.

The public can preview auction items from 4 p.m.

Light fare and beverages will be provided prior to the auction which begins at 5:30 p.m.

Proceeds from the auction will fund VIEW’s operating expenses and multifunctional art center.
