Friends plan benefit for Marie Martin

A benefit is being held for Marie Martin at Adirondack Lodge on Route 28 in Old Forge on Thursday, August 27, from 4 to 7 p.m.

Marie, who lives in Forestport, is a former resident of Old Forge. She was in a seizure-related  car accident a year and a half ago, which resulted in a broken back, several months of missed work and a totaled car.

She still undergoes rehabilitation exercise for her back.

More recently, she fell at home and fractured her shoulder. She was transferred from Utica to Albany Medical Center for surgery. Shortly after returning home from the hospital, her elderly dog suffered health issues, vet visits, and then died.

Marie is back at work and on the mend, but friends and family would like to give her a hand getting back on her feet. Please join us for some food, music and community spirit!

The benefit, held under the big tent, will include hot dogs and hamburgers, salad, chips, beverage and dessert. There will be live music, an auction and 50-50 raffle. Tickets are $10 for adults, and $8 for children under 13 years old.

Donations for the auction are still being accepted. Please call Jane Tormey at 369-6266. For dessert donations call Barbara Green at 369-6445.
