Adirondack Lakes Center for the Arts will present a live performance of the three-time Tony award winning play, Urinetown the Musical, at the Strand Theatre in Old Forge on Saturday, August 8 at 2 p.m.
Set in a world where water is scarce and corporations control the plumbing, Urinetown satirizes the legal system, capitalism, social irresponsibility, populism, municipal politics and corporate mismanagement.
In a Gotham-like city, a water shortage caused by a 20-year drought, has led to a government-enforced ban on private toilets.
The citizens must use public amenities regulated by a single malevolent company that profits by charging admission for one of humanity’s most basic needs.
Amid the people, a hero decides he’s had enough and plans a revolution to lead them all to freedom.
Tickets can be purchased online at adirondackarts.org, or at the Strand the day of the performance.
Tickets are $20 for non-members, $12 for members of ALCA, and $6 for children ages 12 and under.
