Services held for Vincent Dolan III, 40

Dolan 1Vincent dePaul Dolan III passed suddenly into the arms of the Lord on July 16, 2015. He was 40 years old. Vinnie (as he was known) was born in Augusta, Maine on January 20, 1975.

Three days after his birth he was adopted by Vincent and Catherine Dolan. Vincent was serving in the USAF, stationed with the recruiting service on Long Island.

Vinnie relocated to Thendara with his family in 1987 and attended Town of Webb schools until his graduation in 1993.

While growing up, Vinnie developed a passion for cooking. He could often be found in the kitchen, helping and learning from his mother and grandmother.

After graduation, he started cooking at the former Howard Johnson Restaurant in Old Forge. He later became the head chef at Riley’s Restaurant in the Water’s Edge Inn, a position he held until the motel closed.

He then worked at Slickers Restaurant until such time that he became the owner/operator of the Bears Den in Old Forge.

Vinnie was a member of St. Bartholomew’s Roman Catholic Church and the Sons of the American Legion in Old Forge.

He is survived by his parents, Vincent and Catherine (Lombardi) Dolan of Thendara; a sister, Helen Dolan of Deerfield and her five-year old daughter, Lauren Victoria Dolan; aunt and Godmother, Eileen Shea of Brooklyn, and aunt Florence (Lombardi) Hartsough of Washingtonville, NY; and multiple cousins.

He was predeceased by an uncle and aunt, Thomas and Jennifer (Lombardi) Alfano. Vinnie is also survived by his loving children, Alexis Briana Dolan and Brooke Hailey Dolan, his fiancé, Marcy Shrimpton, and her daughter, Kaitlyn.

Vinnie’s family would like to thank the Old Forge Fire Department for their courteous and professional service.

His Funeral Mass was Thursday, July 23, 2015 at St. Bartholomew’s Church in Old Forge. Interment in Riverview Cemetery will be at the convenience of the family.

Calling hours were held Wednesday, July 22, 2015, at the Dimbleby, Friedel, Williams & Edmunds Funeral Home, Old Forge.

In lieu of flowers, friends are asked to consider a donation to the American Legion Scholarship Fund in Vinnie’s name, P.O. Box 893, Old Forge, NY 13420.
