Niccolls Church to host summer Fair Trade Sale, Saturday, July 12

The Mission Committee of Niccolls Memorial Presbyterian Church will host their semi-annual Alternative Marketplace at the church on Sunday, July 12 from 8 to 8:30 a.m. and again at 11 a.m. to noon.

This Fair Trade sale will offer a number of items including jewelry, religious items, scarves, household goods and spices from artisans around the world.

There will also be Fair Trade coffee, tea and olive oil available for purchase.

Items are provided primarily from the SERRV organization, which works with fair trade partners in 32 countries.

The purpose of these sales is to support the low income artisans and farmers behind each item sold as well as to give members of the local community an opportunity to buy items and gifts with stories behind them.

Artisans receive a fair wage for their work, empowering them to be able to send their children to school, to eat nourishing meals and to save income for a healthy future.

Proceeds also help fund community health projects, environmental protection programs and other developments which help to transform communities in need.

Cash and checks will be accepted at the sale.

The church is located at 228 Crosby Blvd., next door to the Old Forge Library.
