Exhibition kicks off May 13 with Arts Center reception

The 7th Annual Northeast National Pastel Exhibition will kick-off with an opening reception on Friday, May 13 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the new Arts Center/Old Forge.

The event will also celebrate the opening of “Celebrating Family Farms of the Tug Hill Region” a series of paintings by Loretta Lepkowski, and work by the Blind Artists Society.

The celebration will include hors d’oeuvres and live music by Carleton J. Boone.

On Saturday, May 14 from 9:30 to 11 a.m., internationally recognized master pastelist Lucy Petrie PSA, IAPS MC, will lead a Gallery Walkabout. Continental breakfast will be served prior to the tour.

The Juror of Awards for the exhibition, Ms. Petrie will lead a conversation about some of the works on display and offer her thoughts on the selected paintings.

The 108 works of art were chosen by famed pastelist Wende Caporale (PSA), this year’s juror of selection, and will be on display through June 25.

Paintings by Loretta Lepkowski: Celebrating Family Farms of the Tug Hill Region will be on display through May 22.

The exhibit celebrates local, working farm families and depicts many of our region’s unsung heroes working in agriculture—from dairy farming to beekeeping to maple sugaring.

Works by Ernest Williams: Patterns in Nature, will be on display through July 28, and those of The Blind Artists Society will be on display through June 12.

Admission to the opening reception is $8 for non-members and free to members of the Arts Center, exhibiting artists, and children under 12.
