Webb Property Owners Association (WPOA) will lead a discussion about local Assisted Living needs on Saturday, July 11 at 10 a.m. at Niccolls Memorial Presbyterian Church in Old Forge.
This discussion will be the major part of an open monthly board meeting for WPOA, which all interested members of the public are invited to attend.
The topic of Assisted Living needs in our community has been an ongoing topic of concern recently, according to WPOA Secretary Jerry Rutherford.
As such, concerns have been directed to WPOA officers and board directors, she said.
It is the hope of WPOA that the July 11th meeting will help promote public dialogue, highlight concerns, and ultimately improve the assisted living situation locally.
WPOA outlined part of the problem in a statement issued this week.
“There are many senior citizens who face circumstances requiring more assistance. Due to those needs, many are forced to leave their homes to relocate to other facilities or living with relatives out of the area.
This often leaves a relationship void in the life of the person relocated,” WPOA said.
WPOA is offering its members and those interested in Assisted Living to share their thoughts about how the organization can help to bring about improvement.
“Maybe as a group we can better understand how those needs can be met within our community under current opportunities,” WPOA said.
“The Officers and Board Members look forward to listening to what you know and believe are the needs of our Senior Citizens, and how those needs can be met in our community.”
Refreshments will be available prior to the meeting.
The informational meeting is intended to assist WPOA with direction for the coming year.
WPOA also extends an invitation to anyone wishing to join the organization.
“[We] need current members and new members with energy. We are looking forward to valuable ideas and information to be exchanged,” WPOA said.
Webb Property Owners Association serves the towns of Forestport, Inlet and Webb, and is a non-profit civic league, chartered in 1984.
According to WPOA, its mission is to insure and protect the interests of all property owners.
WPOA said it actively promotes the use of best practices in Town, County and School governments; advocates open and ongoing communication among elected officials and Town citizens; and supports an equitable tax structure for all property owners.
