Town of Webb UFSD hosted its Spring Awards Ceremony in the school gym on Monday, June 8 which included distribution of athletic awards, non-academic and memorial awards and scholarships, and university and college awards and scholarships for juniors.
The evening began with a welcome speech by Tyler McGough, Varsity Club president, who introduced guest speaker Maddie Phaneuf, a 2013 Webb graduate who was recently recognized as U.S. Junior Woman Biathlete of the Year and named to the U.S. Biathlon X-Team.
Spring coaches had an opportunity to introduce their team members and acknowledge their accomplishments throughout the season.
Scholarships were awarded in between the coaches’ presentations by Principal John Swick and guest presenter Mike Cunningham.
Superintendent Rex Germer distributed the final awards to Master Athletes.
The ceremony ended with a New York State Senate Citation by Senator Hugh T. Farley honoring the life and service of David Leach, long-time Webb School educator and athletic director who passed away April 16, 2015.
