Cycle Adirondacks coming to Old Forge area

To the Editor,

Tuesday, June 9 marked 75 days until Cycle Adiron-dacks, Wildlife Conserva-tion Society’s new road-cycling tour of the Adirondack Park and the surrounding region.

The August 22 through 29 event will bring hundreds of people to our special corner of the world.

To date, guests have registered from nearly 30 states and Canada, many of whom are saying it will be their first visit to the region.

The cycling, and the memories it will provide our guests, will be amazing; we know that.

But it’s the connections with people in our host communities that will be the most memorable.

These are the memories that will bring our guests back.

We’re fortunate to have six incredible host communities, including Old Forge, which will host our tour on August 26 and 27.

The Cycle Adirondacks camp will be based at the Hiltebrant Recreation Center on North Street and on the evenings of Wednesday and Thursday, August 26 and 27, we’ll host free family entertainment, complete with a beer and wine garden, concessions and a local vendor village.

Without the wholehearted support of Herkimer County, the Hamlets of Old Forge, Thendara, Inlet and Eagle Bay, and especially the Town of Webb and the fine folks at Enchanted Forest Water Safari, none of this would be possible. Thank you.

We’ve also received invaluable assistance from the New York Department of Environ-mental Conservation, Adirondack Park Agency, Department of Transportation, State Police and so many others.

Registration is still open for our 3-day, 4-day and full-week route options, and anyone —including non-cyclists—can come along as part of our Travel Companions program or be an event volunteer. Learn more at www.CycleAdirondacks.com.

We’re looking forward to helping make Cycle Adirondacks a community event that our guests remember for a lifetime. Thanks for all your support!
