Sarah Alves of Old Forge was appointed program director of the Town of Webb Recreation Department by the Town Board on Monday, May 18.
As program director, Sarah’s duties include scheduling and organizing playground and athletic activities, providing and/or conducting training sessions for recreation leaders, purchasing supplies and materials and working with Town Officials and the Recreation Committee.
“The board felt Sarah was a great fit for the position due to her involvement with the youth in the community. We were very fortunate to have four outstanding and very qualified candidates for the position, which made for a difficult decision. We’re excited to move forward with Sarah…we think she has a lot to offer for programming in the community,” said Webb Supervisor Ted Riehle.
Sarah and her husband, Chris Tappan, moved to the area from southeastern Massachussetts in September 2011.
They have three children, Sophia, 7, Tristan, 6 and 10-month-old, Wesley.
Chris works in the financial department at Enchanted Forest Water Safari.
Sarah has run the Toddler Story Time program at the Old Forge Library for the past three years and coaches the U-6 AYSO team.
She is currently president of the Town of Webb School PTC.
“I’m very excited to start this new chapter, and I’m looking forward to serving the community as Recreation Program Director,” Sarah said.
