Town of Webb senior Briana Brownsell, 17, joined the Town of Webb school in seventh grade, having graduated from Inlet Common School. She has lived in Inlet all her life.
During her college search, Briana said she narrowed her choice to three: St. Lawrence University, Syracuse University and SUNY Fredonia.
“I’m still waiting to hear from a certain college, so I haven’t made a choice, yet,” she said at the time of this interview.
Briana said she is planning to study communications and journalism. “It’s a broad field,” she said.
Her favorite class is Advanced Placement Government, taught by Tim Leach.
“I like history and social studies,” she said.
Briana’s favorite teachers are Tim Leach and Mike Cunningham.
“They’re both really funny, and being around them is a lot of fun,” she said.
Briana is a member of the Webb varsity soccer and softball teams. She is also on the school’s Alpine ski team.
Briana no longer plays the drums and participates in marching band.
She is the Vice President of Key Club, Secretary of National Honor Society, and 2015 Class Treasurer. She is also a member of Travel Club and Varsity Club.
Briana’s parents are Tim and Jill Brownsell. Jill is a real estate agent for Timm Associates and Tim owns and operates T&J Builders of Inlet.
Her sister Natalie, also attends the Town of Webb school.
Outside of school, Briana said she enjoys hanging out with her family.
“My dad is a member of the Inlet Town Board, so I help out with Inlet events whenever I can,” she said.
She also enjoys skiing, hiking, canoeing and being outside in general.
She likes all music. “I can’t pick a favorite,” she said.
Briana said she is very self-motivated, which has been a big plus.
“I saw other students doing well and wanted to follow their lead. I drove myself to be successful,” she said.
In the summer, she has worked at Kalil’s Grocery in Inlet and for the Town of Inlet cleaning cottages and working in the parks area.
Brianna said she is ready for graduation. “I’m ready to move on. I want to see bigger and better things,” she said.
“I’m going to miss how everyone knows each other. Everyone is close and gets along well.”
Briana said she doesn’t have a specific favorite memory, but enjoys any free time she gets to spend with friends.
“We always have a good time,” she said
Her summer plans weren’t definite at the time of this interview. “But I will keep busy,” she said.
