Welcoming returning Senior Summer Residents to SHARP programs

The participants of the Senior Health Activity and Recreation Program (SHARP) look forward to welcoming senior summer residents as they return.

As SHARP continues into the summer we hope to see many new faces joining us as we anticipate enjoying many fun summer activities.

We will kick off our summer program with our first community fundraising event on Saturday, June 6.

Then, we have planned events such as picnic/cookouts, a fishing/boat cruise on the Fulton Chain, a visit to Finely Farm and enjoying an evening listening to the symphony in Inlet.

Other outings will depend on funds raised on June 6th so please come out to the Old Forge Fire Hall for Retro Day and support us while having some fun recreating the 1950’s!

We plan most of our activities based on input from program participants.

We are always looking for new ideas so if you are an area senior and haven’t tried SHARP yet, join us any Wednesday and share yours with us.

Here are the activities for the next two weeks:

Wednesday, May 13 – Local attorney Tim Foley comes for a visit. “Mother May I?”  Balloon Bonanza.  Event planning. Chair exercises or dancing.

Wednesday, May 20 – Chair Yoga with Kathy Queen. “Is that Your Final Answer?” Jeopardy and other games.

We will also have a surprise visitor!

Each week we offer snacks, card games and other activity options.

SHARP is a free program offered to all independent senior citizens from Woodgate to Raquette Lake.

We meet at Niccolls Memorial Church in Old Forge from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. every Wednesday.

Lunch during our regular Wednesday sessions is provided by the TOW Community Health and Wellness Fund.
