Cornell Cooperative Extension of Herkimer County will host a workshop for vegetable gardeners at the Extension office in East Herkimer on Tuesday, May 12 at 6:30 p.m.
If you’re thinking of starting a garden this year but aren’t sure how to go about it, this workshop is for you.
There will also be plenty of new information that will appeal to the more experienced gardener.
Jill Turner and Bernie Armata, presenters of the workshop, will cover such topics as soil composition, raised beds, fertilizer requirements, watering systems, transplanting and more. The issue of late blight will also be discussed.
A registration fee of $10 includes a free pH test of your soil.
Participants are asked to bring two cups of soil to the workshop; test results will be available in 7 to 10 days.
Registration is on a first-paid basis and space is limited. The deadline is Friday, May 8.
