Town of Webb parents & students distinguish themselves statewide with solid 95% showing

The Town of Webb Union Free School District is reporting that 95 percent of the eligible student population participated in the state assessment testing that occurred in districts across New York State this week.

That figure was rounded to the nearest full percentile and reflected student participation at the end of the test day on Wednesday, April 16th, prior the completion of the full testing week.

Webb’s high participation rate contrasts starkly with other school districts in the region, many of which saw large numbers of parents recusing their children in protest.

Factoring significantly was a major campaign by the state’s teachers union, which urged parents to opt their children out of the testing.

Just 11 percent of eligible students participated in testing administered in the Dolgeville school district, according to a report in the Observer Dispatch.

The New York State Education Department requires that all school districts administer these assessment tests to students in grades 3 through 8 for the purpose of measuring educational growth and assessing educational shortcomings.
