Eight schools from throughout Herkimer County, including Town of Webb UFSD, competed in the Herkimer County Drug Quiz Show that took place at Herkimer County Community College on Thursday, March 19.
Blake Greene (team captain), Dawson Dunn, David Ehrensbeck, Aaron Mekkri, Nick Olsen, Alison Russell, Caitlin Russell, and Renee Smith represented the Webb team in the
Jeopardy-style competition sponsored by the Herkimer County Prevention Council.
In preparation for the contest the students got together twice a week during their lunch hour to practice. For the past couple months they reviewed various materials about drugs, alcohol, tobacco, self-esteem and other topics.
In the round robin tournament, each team played four games against other teams and their points from each game were added together for a total score for the day. The team with the highest cumulative score was crowned the Herkimer County champion.
The Town of Webb team earned 63 points, which put them at fifth place. For their prize, the team will be treated to a pizza party at school.
Team coach was Brendan McGrath and Judy Ehrensbeck was the team’s advisor. Vincent Slone served as a peer coach for the team.
