Marcia Barker, chairman of the Town of Webb Planning Board, is continuing to gather names of potential committee candidates who will assist with the review of the town’s Comprehensive Master Plan.
Following the Friday, March 13 deadline, Barker will meet with fellow board members Brian Morgan and Barbara Green to compile the list of volunteers who will be presented for consideration to the Webb Town Board.
When approved, candidates will be named to serve on one or more of the following five sub-committees: Town Government, Enivironmental Issues, Infra-structure, Emergency, Health and Community Services, and Planning and Development.
Barker said the goal is to have seven members on the Town Government Committee and five on the others.
Because there are a varied number of sub-topics related to each sub-committee, she anticipates that some members will serve on more than one committee if they possess expertise or experience in multiple areas.
Then the work begins in reviewing the Town of Webb’s first Comprehensive Master Plan that was adopted in 2002, and the recommended changes as determined by a 2005 review.
It is highly recommended that once a Master Plan is adopted, that it be reviewed and— if needed—revised every three years. Though the 2005 plan was reviewed, it was never adopted.
Andy Getty, Webb’s Code Enforcement Officer, describes the review as a team effort.
“As any Master Plan is a vision to move towards the future, it should include the wisdom of those who have been here; as well as the hopes and dreams of those who hope to be here a long time,” he said.
Barker agrees.
“I believe the Master Plan is something very important to the community, and I would like to see the community even better and more intact than when I first came here over 50 years ago,” she said.
