SHARP, our Senior Health, Activities & Recreation program has come a long way in just four weeks. The seniors have created a mission statement and have chosen a name, and are now working on a logo which should be in place soon.
Our participants came up with some very clever ideas for names during our “Name the Program” challenge. I didn’t have the heart to just throw away the ones that weren’t chosen, so some of them will be used to name the activities that our seniors particularly enjoy.
For example, our memoir activity will be called “Senior Moments to Remember,” a combination of two names suggested by Barb Proper and Carolyn Wilsey.
The group that regularly goes to Town of Webb School to hear the children read was named “Forever Young” by Carolyn Trimbach.
We welcome members of the community who would like to share a special skill, talent, or hobby with our group, or perhaps present a lecture on a topic of interest.
Restaurants or other businesses may consider contributions of products or services for very small fees or be willing to help with future fundraising events by donating items as prizes.
Financial donations to help buy supplies or with special activities or trips are always appreciated.
Creative people can share their flair for decorating by helping to enhance the look of our activity room. Donations of decorative objects are also welcome.
For a more detailed list of items we need, please visit our Facebook page: search SHARP, or look on the bulletin board at DiOrio’s Supermarket.
If you would like to donate any items, please drop them off at Niccolls Church office Monday through Friday between 9:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m., or call or text (315) 225-7553 or email: activitiescoordinator4seniors@yahoo.com.
We have some great events planned for next week. On Wednesday, March 11 we will have Family Tree, plan our future events, and chair exercises.
Also, card and word games, and the Forever Young trip to TOW School.
From 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. we will be taking part in the Town of Webb School’s PARP night. We will meet at Niccolls Church at 6 p.m. to carpool to the school.
On Friday, March 13 we will participate in the community St. Patrick’s Day Parade, followed by the school play, How to Succeed in Business without Really Trying. Meet at Niccolls Church at 4 p.m. to prepare for the parade.
Following the parade, we will return to Niccolls for a light meal and then carpool to the school.
There will be a small charge to attend the play.
