The Town of Inlet is getting ready for its 13th annual Frozen Fire & Lights on Saturday, February 28—a fun-filled day for the whole family.
Along with the traditional events—a book sale, ice skating, sledding, cardboard sled racing and cross-country skiing at Fern Park, bonfires and fireworks—this year’s festival-goers can expect a new addition: the coronation of a king and queen.
Inlet residents and business owners Paul and Reggie Chambers have been selected to serve as the inaugural royalty, and will oversee all the day’s activities and competitions, as well as present awards and trophies to winners.
“As originators of the event in 2003, the Chambers are a fitting choice to reign as our first king and queen,” said Adele Burnett, Inlet Tourism Director.
The Chambers are responsible for the beautification of the Main Street Inlet property that was formerly the site of Chambers Garage.
Now known as Chambers Commons, the property includes Paul’s enterprise, French Louie ADK Sports, and Reggie’s Adirondack Reader book store.
Also added to the roster of Frozen Fire and Lights events is a presentation by author Roy Reehil, Remembering French Louie, at 11 a.m. in the meeting room at the Inlet Town Hall.
Reehil and William J. O’Hern co-authored Adirondack Adven-tures: Bob Gillespie & Harvey Dunham on French Louie’s Trail.
Reehil will share stories from his book about French Louie, a famous character throughout Hamilton and Herkimer counties.
French Louie became a legend after the 1952 publication of the book, Adirondack French Louie: Life in the North Woods, by Utica author Harvey Dunham.
A book signing and reception will be held at noon at the Inlet Public Library.
