The Town of Webb Union Free School District recently named its January Eskimos of the Month, as Kindergardeners E. Burns and T. Alves; first grader G. Gardner; second graders L. Little and R. Lis; third graders B. Beal and E. Eddy; fourth grader D. Aliasso; and fifth graders N. Herron and J. Pratt.
The Eskimos of the Month is a program designed to give elementary students a chance to be in the spotlight, according to Webb teacher Judy Ehrensbeck.
She said the students list a few of their favorite things to accompany a picture of themselves that hangs in the hallway for the month.
Throughout the month, these students have the opportunity to speak during the morning announcements, telling fellow students and faculty of their three favorite things.
“It’s not necessarily a reward for doing something great, but rather a chance for them to see that they can be great,” Judy said.
“It’s cool to see the students, even the high school students, stop to read about each Eskimo of the Month,” she said.
At the end of the month, the students get to take their posters home, she added.
