Services planned for Tayler R. Schmid, 17

TaylerTayler R. Schmid, 17, of Thendara, died on Wednesday, November 26, 2014, at the St. Elizabeth Medical Center.

He was born on July 23, 1997, in Little Falls, a son of Hans and Laurie Hall Schmid.  Tayler was currently a Junior at the Town of Webb School.

He was a natural athlete who played soccer and ran track.  

Tayler also liked playing basketball, as well as being part of the Drama Club stage crew at school.

For the past two summers, Tayler enjoyed working at Rivett’s Marina.

He had a great love of the outdoors where he enjoyed mountain biking, as well as hiking the High Peaks with his father.

Tayler’s true love was aviation. He would spend many hours on his home simulator and flying RC planes honing his craft hoping to become a pilot one day. He was a natural flyer, flying gliders and single engine planes to the amazement of his instructors.

Tayler also enjoyed spending many hours with friends planning great adventures.

Tayler was a member of St. Bartholomew Church in Old Forge.

He is survived by his parents, Hans and Laurie; brother, Hanson and sister, Ella all of Thendara; grandmother, Anna Schmid of Inlet; grandparents, Richard and Helen Hall of Remsen; uncles and aunts, Ed and Judy Schmid of New Hartford, Herb and Carol Schmid of Inlet, J.R. Hall of FL, Will Hall of Remsen and a large extended family.

He was predeceased by his grandfather, Walter Schmid of Inlet.

The family would like to thank the Old Forge Ambulance and the Town of Webb School for all the kind support given to the family.

Calling hours will be on Thursday, December 4 from 5 to 7 p.m. at St. Bartholomew Church, 189 Park Ave, Old Forge.

The funeral will be on Friday, December 5 at 2 p.m. at Church.

Arrangements are with the Dimbleby, Friedel, Williams & Edmunds Funeral Home, Old Forge.
