Help keep our roads safe next summer…Support the SS Minnow

I recently sent out a plea to the area restaurants/bars asking them to consider supporting the SS Minnow, our local bus shuttle service.

Thanks to the late Scott Stuart’s persistence and initial funding in getting the service started, the Minnow runs Fridays and Saturdays from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. during July and August.

It is a free ride that will get you where you want to go in the Inlet/Eagle Bay area, making stops at the local establishments between Seventh Lake House and Daiker’s and occasional trips into Big Moose.

You can get on or off at any time. You can call the bus and it will come get you as soon as it can and take you where you need to go, whether it be home or to the next establishment.

The bus likes to stay within the four-mile radius of Eagle Bay, but will travel outside that area to make sure passengers get to their destinations safely. And there have been many nights that the bus is still on the road after 2:30 a.m. making sure everyone gets home.

This bus is not just a benefit to the businesses, but benefits all of us who live here.

You may not ride it, but someone you love might. Or someone you love might be driving home from work when someone who should have been on the bus causes an accident.

If this bus benefits you, a loved one or a friend, please consider a contribution to ensure it continues to sail in the summer of 2015.

Because the Minnow shuttle is a privately-owned business, the owner gets calls for reservations for weddings or other gatherings during July and August.

If funding is not received soon to secure our usage of the service next summer, the owner will have no choice but to commit to these alternate requests.

THE SOONER WE CAN SECURE FUNDS FOR THIS THE BETTER!

If you have any questions, you may call me at work (315) 357-5501 or cell 369-8830 or email deldoc@yahoo.com.

Sincerely,
