Emir Hodzic, MD, 31, a family practice physician, has joined Thomas Socash, MD and Karla Dalious, RPA-C in providing care at the Town of Webb Health Care Center, a facility operated by the St. Elizabeth Medical Group.
Dr. Hodzic earned his medical degree from St. George’s University School of Medicine, Grenada, West Indies.
He completed a Bachelor of Science in Arts and Sciences from Utica College of Syracuse University, with a major in Biology and a minor in Chemistry.
Dr. Hodzic is a graduate of the St. Elizabeth Family Practice Residency Program and has clinical experience in OB/GYN, internal medicine and pediatrics.
“I knew at a very young age that I wanted to become a doctor,” he said.
Dr. Hodzic said he fell in love with Old Forge last year during his Clinical Rotation.
“I decided I want to make it my home; I plan to be here long-term,” he said.
He is originally from Bosnia. His family relocated to Utica about twenty years ago.
There really isn’t too much needed to upgrade the Old Forge facility; just more lab supplies and equipment, minor improvements, he said.
“Small details to allow for better self-efficiency,” Dr. Hodzic added.
“I’ve only been here three weeks, but the staff has made me feel really welcome.
They’re great, and I enjoy working with them,” he said.
Dr. Hodzic said he loves the outdoors and enjoys skiing, hiking, and kayaking.
“I look forward to all the outdoor activities that Old Forge offers. I know I will fit in here,” he said.
He has one brother Eldar Hodzic, 24, who is an X-ray Tech at Cooperstown Hospital.
His parents are Omar and Zejna Hodzic. They are both retired.
Dr. Hodzic is accepting new patients and can be reached at the Town of Webb Health Care Center, located at 114 South Shore Road in Old Forge.
The Health Care Center’s phone number is (315) 369-6619.
Faxton St. Luke’s Health-care and St. Elizabeth Medical Center are affiliates under the Mohawk Valley Health System.
