Town of Webb students, grades sixth through eighth, gathered in the school gymnasium to learn about The War of 1812 through music by Dave Ruch, a special guest musician and performer from Buffalo, on Tuesday, October 21st.
Students were educated on the causes of the war, some of the key events and the final outcome—all while participating in an interactive concert filled with banjos, bones, spoons and many other instruments.
Ruch says he performs hundreds of concerts and workshops each year for schools, music festivals, libraries, historical societies, professional conferences, folk music organizations, museums and community events for all ages across the northeastern U.S., Canada and the U.K.
He is a member of the New York State Historical Assoc-iation, Canal Society of New York State, New York Folklore Society, and the Western New York Associa-tion of Historical Agencies.
