Walk for Alzheimer’s to be held Saturday, June 18 in Inlet

by Margie O’Hara Guest Contributor

Alzheimer’s. The very word strikes terror in our hearts. How much more devastating it is when the word is used as a diagnosis for a loved one.

As frightening as the disease is, over the past decade progress has been made in both the diagnosis and treatment of Alzheimer’s. Is there a cure? Not at this time.

However, where there is progress, there is hope.

As with everything else in our world, it all comes down to money. Continuing research is costly, and we would like to contribute all we can to assist those whose purpose is to defeat this dreaded disease.

With that in mind, we invite you to join us on Saturday, June 18, for Inlet’s 2nd Annual Memory Walk.

Last year’s event was a great success, raising over $9,000 for Alzheimer’s research. We need you to help us meet our 2011 goal of $10,000.

Go to inletalzwalk@

kintera.com. There you will find all of the event details, and you can join a team, start your own team, or simply donate.

On the day of the event, anyone can participate! Walk to Eagle Bay and back; walk one way and take the bus back; ride both ways in a golf cart provided by the Inlet Golf Club; or, simply stay at Arrowhead Park for food, music, silent auction, and more.

Have a great experience and help us defeat Alzheimer’s!
