CAP-21 beefed up their duck adoption numbers for the upcoming CAP-PY Duck Derby with a Soak-A-Duck event at Old Forge’s Point Park on Saturday, August 9th.
Duck adopters were given the opportunity to pelt the taunting CAP-PY Duck with water balloons in return for their $5 donation.
Approximately 100 ducks were adopted during the three-hour time period.
The CAP-PY Duck Derby is set for Sunday, August 31 and all are invited to join in the fun by adopting a single duck for $5 or a flock of five for $20 for an opportunity to win 13 prizes, including a possible prize of $100,000.
The ducks will be dropped over the Old Forge bridge into the Moose River at noon the day of the event.
Any of the first 15 finishers crossing the finish line will have an opportunity to win the big prize of $100,000 through a co-sponsorship with OddsOn Promotions of Las Vegas.
Ducks can be purchased online at www.cap-21.org, at the CAP-21 office at Hemmer Cottage, the Old Forge Visitor Information Center, and the Old Forge Farmers’ Market on Fridays from 1 to 5 p.m.
Ducks will also be for sale at Point Park and at Sweetcar Named Desire, between Souvenir Village and Tony Harper’s, over the next two weekends.
On-line sales will end at 6 p.m. on Saturday, August 30th.
The Duck Derby is CAP-21’s sole fundraiser of the year and helps to support the organization’s community development and grant writing work. For more information call CAP-21 at (315) 369-3353.
