Pendragon Theatre’s Harvey coming to VIEW

Pendragon Theatre will present a production of “Harvey,” the classic Tony Award-winning 1944 comedy, at VIEW in Old Forge on Monday, August 18 at 7:30 p.m.SONY DSC

The play, written by Mary Chase, tells the story of Elwood P. Dowd and his imaginary best friend Harvey, a six-foot-three-and-a-half-inch tall white rabbit.

The three-act comedy follows the frustrated attempts of society matron Veta Louise Simmons to keep the eccentricities of her brother, Elwood, from public view. She decides to have him committed to a psychiatric hospital, where a comedy of errors ensues. The play is a heart-warming celebration of the power of the imagination.

The film adaption of the play received multiple Oscar nominations in 1951, including a best actor win for James Stewart.
