Old Forge: Winners announced at the Annual Antique & Classic Boat Show

A perfect day brought a lot of viewers to the 24th annual Fulton Chain Rendezvous of the Antique and Classic Boat Society.

Fifty boats were on display either in the water or on land on Saturday, July 12 at the Old Forge waterfront.

Visitors to the show were given free rides on “Grace,” a classic Chris Craft owned by Dunn’s Boat Service. 

A special celebration was held for the 100th birthday of “Omeco,” a 25-ft. Fay & Bowen owned by Bill and Wendy Nolan.

Omeco has spent her entire 100 years in the same boathouse with the same family at the PAOWNYC property on Fourth Lake.

The event was hosted by the Adirondack Chapter of the Antique and Classic Boat Society and co-sponsored by the Central Adirondack Association, Brooker’s Hardware & Lumber, the Strand Theatre, Shelter, Water’s Edge Inn, Rivett’s Marine, Adirondack Bank, Water Safari/Enchanted Forest, T.A. Down Construction Co., DiOrio’s Market, and Old Forge Camping Resort.

Awards were presented on Saturday night to the winners in the following classes:

Historic – Wendy and Bill Nolan for “Omeco,” a 1914 Fay & Bowen

Antique – Alan Rosenblum for “Marsey Dotes,” a 1924 Dodge

Classic Utility – Scott Banner for a 1970 Century

Classic Runabout – Jack Gifford for “Songbird,” a 1948 Century

Contemporary Classic – Adam Retersdorf for “Pippin II,” a 2013 Reets Boatworks

Outboard – Mattie Smith for “Lil Miss Mattie,” a 1958 Sampson

Land Display – Douglas Finch for “Pretty Penny,” a 1956 Penn Yan

Exhibitors Choice – Jon Rich for “Fine Wine,” a 1931 Dart

The winners of the People’s Choice award were Wendy and Bill Nolan for “Omeco.”
