Mountainman hosting 2nd Annual New York SUP Festival

Mountainman Outdoor Supply Company will present the 2nd Annual New York SUP Festival on Saturday, July 20th.

The event will take place at the Old Forge Pond and at Mountainman Outdoor Supply Company from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and will include a race, free demos and clinics, and test paddling on what has been called the most exciting new activity to hit paddlesports in decades.

The event is designed to introduce Stand Up Paddleboards (SUPs) to the Old Forge area.

Stand Up Paddleboarding (SUP) is an easy-to-learn watersport that provides a full body workout.

A SUP is essentially an oversized surfboard that is specifically designed for use on either flatwater or surf.

Almost anyone can learn to paddle a SUP, from kids to seniors.

“Stand Up Paddling is a great activity that has really taken off the past year in the Adirondacks. It doesn’t take lot of extra gear, and it’s really simple to learn,” said John Nemjo, president of Mountainman.

They are also lightweight and easy to transport, making the sport especially appealing to the whole family, he said.

The day-long event will feature activities for everyone in the family, no matter their level of experience on a SUP. There will be clinics and free demos, with SUP industry experts on hand to answer questions and demonstrate the ease of the sport.
