Superintendent’s Report included the topics:

Mr. Germer read a letter from Senator Farley informing the District that it was the recipient of a $5,000 Small Bullet Aid grant award.

Congratulations to the Class of 2014! Best wishes for a fulfilling and successful future.

Major work has already begun. The concrete repair on the base level of the building toward the post office has already been deeper and more extensive than we could have predicted but they are taking the damaged areas down until they hit solid structure and rebuilding.

Painting has begun in the Gymnasium and other sub contractors have been here daily tending to the needs of the building.

Our BOCES has obtained several grants through the use of the new grant writer service they added this past year.

The Town of Webb UFSD is included in one that has already been approved and has several of our staff members receiving training this fall.

We have also been included in a consortium of applicants for two others that have already been submitted related directly to classroom/teaching activities and will be included in one that is soon to be submitted that would be a large scale solar consortium study.

We are always looking for efficiency opportunities and alternate sources of funding to further enhance and support what we offer here.

The state has not yet issued guidance on the latest changes to the APPR. The state made changes to keep the Common Core scores from impacting teacher’s evaluated at the two lowest levels of the rating scale.

We are hearing that we may not have full guidance prior to our due dates for the components to be submitted.

These mid and late year changes are challenges that simply add more unknowns to the equation and in our atmosphere simply add undue stress to an already strained situation.

The next meeting will be held on August 12, at 6:30 pm in the library of the school.

The preceding capsule does not represent approved minutes and is provided by the Town of Webb UFSD for publication.
