High school senior, William O. Morgan, 18, has lived in Eagle Bay all his life and has attended the Town of Webb school since kindergarten.
After graduation, William is planning to take a year off from school. Instead he will earn money to put toward his college education.
This summer he said he intends to work as a cook at the Mountainside restaurant in Old Forge. The restaurant industry is very familiar to him, William said. He has worked at a number of local establishments, including Slickers and The Muffin Patch in Old Forge, and The Ole Barn in Inlet.
Eventually he plans to study Technology. “My grandfather, Charles Thibado, really got me into it when I was growing up. He made me want to go that route,” William said.
William has taken all the Tech courses the school offers. In his spare time, for more experience, William said he joins teacher Mr. Bradish in the technology building.
“I get a lot of hands-on learning with Mr. Bradish; that helps in understanding everything much quicker,” he said.
William said loves to be outdoors in the summertime.
“I fish a lot. I try to go before and after school,” he said.
He is also a hunter and enjoys hiking.
In the wintertime, William said he is on the trails with his 1996 Polaris snowmobile.
When not outdoors, William works out of his garage welding and repairing small engines and vehicles.
“It’s a hobby of mine; it’s a challenge I really like,” he said.
He is also interested in blacksmith work.
William is currently certified in carpentry after completing classes at BOCES.
Not surprisingly his favorite teacher is Technology teacher, Mr. Bradish.
“He has definitely influenced me the most. He is always there when you have a question, and he’s always giving me new projects to start,” William said.
“He has definitely gotten me most prepared for my future.”
William’s parents are Debbie and Bill Morgan. William said he plans to stay close to the Upstate New York area after college. He said he’ll never lose his love for the area and all the outdoor activities it offers.
