Moose River Plains Adirondack League Club lends hand to NYS DEC with road repair project

Rock Dam Road Repair

The Adirondack League Club is assisting the New York State Department of Environ-mental Conservation in the repair of Rock Dam Road in the Moose River Plains.

Currently, there are two main entrances for the Moose River Plains Road, one near Inlet off of Limekiln Road, and the other at the Wakely Dam Recreational Area located at the end of Cedar River Road.

Rock Dam Road is considered a main side road that can be found branching off the side of Moose River Plains Road near Otter Brook Road and Indian Lake Road.

The road, which was washed out in places this spring, has been closed to traffic this summer.

Due to a lack of New York State funds as a result of the budget crisis, repairs to the Rock Dam Road have not been made.

This summer, the Adirondack League Club obtained a permit from the DEC that will allow them to conduct the repairs in order to use the road to haul lumber out of the northeast portion of its preserve this fall.

Utilizing only private funding, gravel will be hauled from the Club’s property and, according to Egan Willard, General Manager of the ALC, only the Club’s equipment will be used.
