Service planned for Paul W. Godemann, 76

Paul W. Godemann, 76, of Otter Lake, passed away Saturday April 12, 2014 in the loving arms of his wife and  family by his side.

He was born August 21, 1937 in Utica, a son of the late Paul and Mildred (Budlong) Godemann. Paul was a graduate of Utica Free Academy and MVCC where he earned an Associates Degree in business. 

In 1958 he was united in marriage to Mary Ella Lake in Trinity Lutheran Church, a blessed union of 55 years. Paul was employed with General Electric in the Radio Receiver Dept. on Bleecker St. for 15 years. With his wife, he operated the Lighthouse store and restaurant, worked on the ALC Preserve crew for six years prior to taking his position of manager in Honnedaga Lake, was an independent contractor, and retired in 2000 as the manager for the Adirondack League Club in Honnedaga Lake after 14 years of service.

Paul is survived by his loving wife, Mary Ella; son, William Godemann and partner, Leslie Stewart, Oneida and Otter Lake; daughter and son-in-law, Debra and Peter Wheeler, Stanford, IL; sister, Patricia Parry, Sanford, FL; grandsons, Trevor Godemann, Otter Lake; Derek Wheeler, Stanford, IL and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three very dear uncles, Bill Budlong, Ken Hollister, and Ralph Godemann.

The Godemann family would like to thank all the doctors, nurses and staff of the second floor at Faxton-St. Luke’s Healthcare, HASCA, Hospice, Kelly Boulier, who has been at our side from day one and Jack Adams, Tom, Dan, and Jeff Abrial, the Otter Lake Fire Dept., and Old Forge Ambulance who have been a godsend to our family.

Funeral arrangements will be at the convenience of the family in the summer. Arrangements are with Dimbleby, Friedel, Williams & Edmunds Funeral Homes, 128 Fern Ave., Old Forge. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Otter Lake Fire Dept., 13053 State Route 28, Forestport, NY 13338.
